Lately....I have been desiring music that is....less powered by sugar and teen angst.... something that revels itself more and more on repeat listenings.

I think it's your oregonian bias.
ReplyDeleteFour years ago I saw M. Ward, Jim James, and Conner Oberst on their Monsters of Folk tour. All three did solo acoustic sets at the Paramount in Austin. I can say that he is one of a handful of musicians that one me over from playing live.
You should give Ray Lamontagne and Andrew Bird a try as well.
Last week M. Ward did an acoustic set for NPR's All Songs Considered, they made a podcast of it available as well.
MWard is playing a free show at Auditorium Shores here in Austin, on the 19th of March; Too bad I will be in D.C. by then :(
ReplyDeleteYarg......I will be in San Fran.
ReplyDeleteGood info Taggart....I will look that up.
ReplyDeleteI have yet to really listen to Mr. Lamontagne but am a big fan of Mr. Oberst.
I have Andrew Birds stuff and really like the Armchair Apocolypse album.
Mertardo...are you moving again?
