Excerpt

(Changing gears entirely)

Here's an excerpt from an essay I'm working on right now (from an alien's perspective!):

Try to imagine seeing the universe in terms of patterns and motion, or patterns of motion to be more exact. You see, all of life has a fluidity and an energy that is represented by your physicists in terms of waves and frequencies. Imagine, then, that life on your planet is much like a wave on the ocean. It has momentum, tension, and is at once part of the water all around it while remaining distinct from it. A wave is connected to the ocean, and so is utterly affected by movements at other points all around. When you begin to tune your awareness you see that humanity is also in motion, much like a wave, and all of you as individuals are profoundly affected by movements in consciousness (as well as physical movement from one geographical place to another) that stretch like a ribbon into the past, present, and future of your planet.
