If the suburbs don't kill you...

the outlet mall surely will.

I don't know how many of you have seen The Hours; I thought it was a good movie- pretty creepy, but good. Anyhow, one of the main messages of the movie, it seemed, was that the suburbs will kill you.

I would have agreed with that statement before seeing the movie, and I certainly agree with it now. But this afternoon, after driving out to the San Marcos Outlet Mall to buy some khakis (which, by the way, is the color I think my poor soul is becoming-judging by my cover-letters and resume at least), I realized that there is an even greater danger to the mind and spirit: that danger is, of course, the retail maze of an outlet mall.

I was only there for 20 minutes and I only visited one store. Nevertheless I feel like several hours, maybe even days of my life were drained away. To bring up another good movie, I feel like I was hooked up to the six fingered man's contraption in The Princess Bride.
