Waiting for the roofer

About a week ago Carol came into the office and said, "What's that?" I follow her finger to the quarter-sized moldy wet spot on the ceiling about a foot from the from the wall. Oh hell, i thought to myself. Some of you might remember the trouble we had right after adolfo iv was born in our apartment on McDuffie st: the roof in our bedroom collapsed after a hot water pipe burst in the ceiling at about 2 a.m. Luckily, carol heard it and woke me up. She got Adolfo out of the room and I was able to get our bed out of the room before the giant sheetrock bubble in the ceiling burst nearly over our bed.

I put my finger to it - it was dry. (There hasn't been rain here for weeks. When did this happen?)

It's position was telling, it was no where near the a/c in the attic, so it wasn't from that. Are there pipes up there? I had never seen any. I took my Craftsman flashlight into the attic and inspected the plywood and beams and found what looked to me like a drip spot.

Could i have gotten shingle damage from Rita? I called my insurance company who suggested i call a roofer first to have them inspect the damage and then call them back.

He's late. Louis, where are you?
