Houston to El Paso

We left Houston dark and early this morning around 6:00. We drove and drove and drove. Little did we know that misfortune lay across our path.

Approx. 30 miles east of Van Horn, Texas we had a blowout. Pretty benign as these things go, but we were still stuck in the god-forsaken wilderness that is West Texas.

Luckily, the cells worked and our fingers walked us out of the desert and into Van Horn, specifically the Shell station with a mechanic, a tire of the correct size, and a crazy 30-something woman in a white Suzuki mini-suv talking to herself loudly and angrily.

We hit the road again with just over two hours lost and made it into El Paso, where I am currently creating this message. Turns out that El Paso is a huge, garish blight upon the land. Who knew?
